Poem- I'm Fine

I'm Fine
Author Unknown
There is nothing whatever the matter with me,
I'm just as healthy as I can be.
I have arthritis in both my knees
And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze.
My pulse is weak and my blood is thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in!
Arch supports I have for my feet,
Or I wouldn't be able to walk on the street.
Sleep is denied me, night after night
And every morning I look like a fright.
My memory's failing; my heads in a spin
I'm practically living on daily aspirin.
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in!
The moral is, as this tale I unfold,
That for you and me, who are growing old,
It's better to say, "I'm fine," with a grin,
Than to let folks know the shape we're in!
This wonderful poem was shared with me by Gail Lorady-One of Virginia's favorite SilverSneakers trainers!

Participants are seated, holding a weight on each thigh (weights are optional). Alternate lifting one leg at a time (knees bent-like marching). Next, you can go into a knee extension: R leg- lift, extend, bend and down. We try a few of these and then I say: If this is easy, you can use two weights on your R thigh. Bonnie Perry, a very creative instructor, always says: Extra credit if you don't touch down! Repeat on the L side. Cue to sit up tall and lift using the abdominal muscles-not momentum!

Hello to all
My name is John and it was my Auntie (now deceased) who wrote the poem 'I'm Fine' back in 1953 when I was ten years old. I sat and watched her write it. For several years I have been trying to get it attributed to her name; Constance O'Neon. She wrote and sent it into a newspaper competiton but apparently never won. Sinse then it has been published many times around the world. The poem you show is not complete, somebody has changed it, the full poem is as followes -
'I'm Fine'
Constance O'Neon
1953-54

There's nothing whatever the matter with me.
I'm just as healthy as can be.
I have arthritis in both my knees and when I
Walk I walk with a wheeze.
My pulse is weak and my blood thin, but I'm
Awfully well for the state I'm in.
My teeth eventually had to come out and my
Diet I hate to think about.
I'm overweight and can't get thin, But I'm
awfully well for the state I'm in.

Arch supports I have for my feet or I wouldn't
Be able to walk in the street.
Sleep is denied me every night, and every
Morning I'm a sight.
My memory is fading, my head in a spin.
But I'm awfully well for the state I'm in.
Old age is golden, so I've heard said,
but sometimes I wonder as I go to bed,
My ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup,
My specs on a table until I get up.
When sleep dims my eyes I say to myself,
Was there anything else I should put on the
Shelf.? But I'm happy to say as I close my eyes,
my friends are the same in days gone by.
When I was young my slippers were red,
And I could kick my heels right over my head.
As I grew older my slippers were blue,
But I could still dance the whole night through.
Now I am old my slippers are black, when I walk
To the church, I puff all the way back.

The reason I know my youth has been spent,
My get up and go has got up and went.
But I really don't mind when I think with a grin,
Of all the places my get up has been.
I rise every morning and dust my wits.
Pick up the paper and read the Obits.
If my name is missing I know I'm not dead, so
I have a good breakfast and go back to bed.

Now my moral of this, as my tale I unfold.
To you and to me, who is growing old.
It's better to say I'm fine with a grin,
Than to let them know of the state I'm in.

Thank you for reading this, perhaps one day I will get her name put to it.

I am extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog.

Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either
way keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one these days.
